About The FORD FOCUS

The Ford Focus became available to the North American market in 1999. It had been available to the European market only one year earlier before the Ford Focus was launched globally. The Ford Focus took the place of the Ford Escort in most markets, excluding the Oceania and Asian markets where it over took the Ford Laser.

The Ford Focus is available in three body styles: the two-door or four-door sedan, a three- or five-door hatchback and a wagon. The Ford Focus is only in its second generation, which began with the 2005 model year. The first generation Ford Focus included all of the aforementioned configurations with the exception of the two-door sedan option, which was not available until the second generation.

The Ford Focus underwent a more modern redesign to both the interior and exterior for the 2008 model. The newly designed Ford Focus included coupe body style was introduced, a new upgraded 2.0L, 140hp engine became available and the SYNC voice-command system was offered for top of the line Ford Focus models.

The Ford Focus underwent a significant redesign for the newest 2012 model. The Ford Focus’s S, SE, SES and SEL trims feature a four-door body style, while the SE and SES offer a coupe option. A Ford Focus Titanium sedan and Titanium coup trim are also available. The base model, the Ford Focus S, comes standard equipped with a 2.0L Ti-VCT direct injection I-4 engine, a five-speed manual transmission, MacPherson strut independent front suspension, cloth seats, manual climate control system, AM/FM CD player with audio input jack, black body molding, power mirrors, rear window defroster, tire pressure monitor, SecuriLock Passive Anti-Theft System and remote keyless entry.

Additional standard features for the Ford Focus SE model include: SYNC voice-activated communications and entertainment system and the MyKey owner controls feature. The Ford Focus SEL model introduces dual-zone automatic temperature control, MyFord Driver connect technology, cruise control, leather wrapped steering wheel, body colored moldings and an anti-theft perimeter alarm. The Ford Focus Titanium model includes a Sony Audio system with 10-speakers and HD radio, Sirius Satellite Radio, Intelligent Access with Push Button Start, ambient lighting, rear spoiler and a six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission. The Ford Focus line also offers a large arrangement of optional packages. Ford has announced that next year, the Ford Focus line will be reintroducing the ST model.

The Ford Focus has received much acclaim including “European Car of the Year” in 1999 and the “North American Car of the Year Award” in 2000. The Ford Focus received a “Best Buy Rating” by Consumers Digest in 2005. From 2000 to 2004, the Ford Focus was listed on Car and Driver’s “Ten Best” list. Today, the Ford Focus remains a top choice for economy car consumers.
